It was my bleed week last week, a time when I usually crave deep and very quiet, full-bodied rest. But as much as I talk and coach about the importance of rest, it is something I still struggle with on the subtlest and sneakiest levels.
So all of last week, I told everyone over and over that I was feeling really drained, that I was taking it easy and going slow. And then, of course, I proceeded to jump onto my laptop and spend all day working; I made a point of working out even when I felt floored by the the most ‘basic’ workouts.
5 days in, I realised I hadn’t actually rested at all. Trying to get back into things as soon as I could only meant that, in the long run, I was taking longer to get back into things.
So, in the spirit of remembering and of honouring rest, today’s post is a collection of reminders about the wonderfulness of intentional pausing that have recently and serendipitously made their way into my space. I hope these bring you some much needed softness and an extra loving dose of permission to let go and drop into deliberate cosy rest, sleep, slowness and not-doing.
