10 fun things for you just because
My attempts to counter some of the noise of being online
Anyone else feeling a little saturated and burnt out by all the noise on being online / on social media lately?
(Maybe also in your inboxes, so I apologise for adding yet another ding with this one)
Recently, all I’ve been seeing on my feeds are things like
“how to get 1000 followers in 10 minutes!”
“DM me to be first to get on my program!”
“join my membership!”
“get in on my masterclass!”
and I get it, we’ve all got something pretty great to offer, but also - I mostly go online just to watch dog videos, stalk RHONJ gossip and discover the latest best char siew rice stalls in KL… and now I feel alllll the pressure to do allllll these other things.
Gah!
So, today’s note from me to you is a quiet break from needing to do anything, sign up for anything, join anything.
Here’s just a collection of some really nice things to enjoy just for the sake of enjoying them. (Or not, if this isn’t your thing):
This video (taken on a walk around my neighbourhood) of some sweet, soothing birdsong and nature in her fullest summer bloom
This how-can-you-not-feel-cheered-up-by-this photo of @rainbowminipig on Instagram
This rockin’ Girlboss Energy playlist on Spotify
This collection of Tina Belcher’s best (most awkward) moments on Bob’s Burgers
This bit of loveliness:
And this reminder:
This most luscious yoga nidra practice to literally lie down and intentionally ‘do nothing’
Dan Boivin’s Substack, Shy Guy Meets the Buddha, which is full of the most wonderful stories and guidance for living mindfully, with full presence. I especially loved this post.
This very delicious, heartwarming podcast, Comfort Eating, with restaurant critic Grace Dent (also available wherever you listen to your podcasts).
9a. A special mention of the Comfort Eating episode with the late celebrity chef Dave Myers, from the Hairy Bikers, who was honestly one of the loveliest, most inspiring, warm human beings I’ve ever seen on telly.
This mini tarot reading from my Golden Girls deck (Yes, it exists. Yes, it’s kitsch). Pause for a moment, tune in and pick one (or two) of these three cards - left, middle, or right. Then scroll down for your reading!

Left: Page of Swords
It’s a time for fresh new ideas and creativity! This card offers you full-on permission to be led by your curiosity - explore everything! Ask questions! Be inquisitive! Let yourself fall down rabbit holes, there can only be exciting, shiny, new things down each one. Be fearless, trusting that your intuition will keep you safe and always guide you towards something even better, even shinier. Be playful with the ideas and thoughts that are coming through. It’s not the time to overthink or overrationalise. Some of the best ideas will emerge from letting yourself explore what feels to be completely improbably and illogical at first.
Middle: Two of Swords
It’s time to find your best balance. Are you being pulled in too many directions? Or feeling torn between two (or more) key decisions? This isn’t the time for pros and cons lists (or any list). They’re only going add to the overwhelm and confusion. Shut out as much outside noise as you can for the moment. Find a still, quiet place. Close your eyes. And just feel. Your deepest, wisest, highest self always-already knows the next best step forward. Ask it for guidance. Trust it. Then go for it.
Right: Page of Wands
This is a card about youthful, carefree adventuring, play, experimenting. Tap back into the spirit of your inner child - the one that felt completely fearless and believed they could damn well do anything, no permission from anyone needed! If you’re needing a sign about whether or not to embark on that next exciting thing, this is it! Do it! There’s a real fresh, young energy around this card. A sense of “I do what I want!” and throwing caution to the wind. Do like your most adventurous 6-year-old self: pack a bag of snacks and just go!

That’s it for today, folks. Hope that’s brought some fun cheer to your day! Big love xxx
